On the first day of the show, the 8,000 available units were completely sold out, and orders for another 22,000 were taken. The initial models were followed by the 2+2 Fastback in 1965. Both models were offered with a variety of engines, including a 4.7-liter eight-cylinder engine, producing up to 275 horsepower and a top speed of 189 km/h.
